Ace
[edit]Perhaps the confusion over Ace status is due to the similarly named Col. William Thaw (1893-1934), a WWI ace, who would have been Russell William Thaw's (half) first cousin (if Henry Kendall Thaw had actually been Russell William Thaw's father). - Nunh-huh 10:21, 30 May 2014 (UTC)
Photo
[edit]Are there no photos of him as an adult ? -- Beardo (talk) 21:26, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
- There are actually some very nice photos of him as a pilot that can be found on the web easily, including some that are marked as having "no known copyright issues" (e.g., on Flickr via the San Diego Air & Space Museum; see the details about the copyright of those images here). But I do not believe I have enough expertise on copyright matters to handle them myself). —BarrelProof (talk) 23:08, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
Notability
[edit]Is this person notable enough for an article on Wikipedia? Besides being Evelyn Nesbit's son, what makes him notable? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Reillyaceofspies (talk • contribs) 18:14, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
- He seems notable as a pilot, and he appeared in at least six films. That's something. —BarrelProof (talk) 23:11, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
WW2 record?
[edit]The lede says ...a pioneering aviator and veteran of World War II.
- No mention of his WW2 record in the article. Valetude (talk) 12:36, 14 October 2018 (UTC)

Russell William Thaw → Russell Thaw – Reviewing the online sources that are cited in the article (those that are not paywalled) and Wikipedia articles and IMDB entries for films in which he appeared, I found no instances of him being referred to as "Russell William Thaw". I found one mention of "Russell W. Thaw", but mostly just "Russell Thaw". Looking on the web, it seems he informally went by "Russ Thaw" during his days as a test pilot (see his signature here – note that some of the text on that page may have been copied from Wikipedia). —BarrelProof (talk) 20:03, 27 November 2018 (UTC)
- Support. Appears to have been his common name. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:55, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
