[edit]As is well known, Switzerland was not a member of UN neither, until recently. Do not use irrelevant facts to support your non-NPoV edits. at0 19:29, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Mehmet, by using TRNC to refer to the occupied Cyprus part, you are undermining the sovereignty of the recognised republic of Cyprus (which includes the occupied part as well, as you would know being an expert with the UN status). The Switzerland analogy is to say the least inappropriate. Please stop using this website to promote Turkish propaganda. The mere reference to denktash in an article for Paphos is a sign for propaganda (Paphos was the birthplace of far more important men that Denktash). I don't object in keeping this fact there however, since some people might find it useful, but at least use an appropriate terminology.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.146.12.92 (talk) 21:32, 7 February 2005 (UTC)
Please feel free to include "far more important men that Denktash" in the article. I am using an appropriate terminology. at0 06:34, 8 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling.jpg
[edit]Image:Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 21:45, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Over the last 18 months i have added (and had removed without explanation) my Restaurant Directory website which caters for the Paphos region. El Greco - what is the problem with my site being listed ? Dining out is very popular in the region and there are hundreds of restaurants/eateries ... when you allow the link to stay i get people visiting from wikipedia that stay for 10+ minutes and look at many pages so obviously those that click the restaurant directory link from the wikipedia page are being given the content they want. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.21.46.54 (talk) 06:54, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- Please read WP:EL and WP:SPAM. El Greco(talk) 14:43, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
El Greco I have reviewed both your links and the WP:SPAM is not applicable to my actions or my link. Furthermore WP:EL states "3.1.4. Sites with other meaningful, relevant content that is not suitable for inclusion in an article, such as reviews and interviews.". My site is a restaurant directory with user submitted reviews on said eateries. Restaurants are entertainment and therefore linked to this article via the Modern Paphos section, specifically the phrase "and the entertainment infrastructure of the city"
I`m really struggling to understand how you can suggest my link is irrelevant and/or spam when my site is dedicated to eating out in the region this article is relevant to ...... please explain specifics as the links you previously posted DO NOT justify this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.21.46.54 (talk) 06:45, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- See this WP:NOT#LINK El Greco(talk) 16:00, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
@El Greco : From your suggested section part 1 "There is nothing wrong with adding one or more useful content-relevant links to an article; however, excessive lists can dwarf articles and detract from the purpose of Wikipedia.". My directory+review site is content-relevant and its addition does not make the external links excessive. Instead of repeatably pointing me to links whose contents can be interpreted in alternate ways, can't you just link AND write a comment to help me understand your reasoning ? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.21.46.54 (talk) 19:30, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- You're advertising your site, which is not allowed on wikipedia. If people want to locate restaurants in Paphos, that's what search engines are for. Wikipedia is not a link directory. El Greco(talk) 20:41, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Aphrodite Hills Resort
[edit]"Aphrodite Hills recently appeared in the highly prestigious Forbes Magazine commissioned top five resorts" I know that Aphrodite Hills resort has been listed in the top ten resorts by various holiday magazines, but top five of forbes ? Could you please provide a link? --Polysophia (talk) 13:02, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
- I notice that there is still not a "forbes" link - merely one to a golfing holidays website. This paragraph appears to be advertising. Is there any reason it should stay?Plingsby (talk) 09:34, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
More info
[edit]It would be nice to see more info or separate sections under headings , on culture on tourism although these are covered to a certain extent in history and economy. --Polysophia (talk) 01:30, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
Earthquake
[edit]From 1222 Cyprus earthquake:
- The castle of Saranda Kolones, built only 30 years earlier overlooking the harbour, was destroyed by the earthquake. It was never rebuilt, as it was no longer needed to protect the port, which had dried up.[6][7] The earthquake permanently changed Paphos, rendering the harbour unusable, and moving the shoreline seawards; it no longer had a protected anchorage.[7]
I'd like a map of shorelines before and after the earthquake to better gauge its impact. --Error (talk) 22:58, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Notable people

Köppen Climate Classification
[edit]Article lists the Köppen Climate Classification for Paphos as BSh, and my research shows that is should be Csa (Hot semi-arid climate). If no one disagrees, I will make the amendment. Cheers! RichardMills65 (talk) 15:20, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

New Images
[edit]Hello,
I have added new images to the page's infobox, consisting of the following images of:
Paphos Port, Modern Aphrodite Sculpture, Paphos Castle, Municipal Library, Markideo Theatre, View of Paphos
*In italics: these places were also found in the previous image collage of the page
I've added these new images to better showcase the city, as well as to include better pictures for the page. (ex.: Modern Aphrodite Statue) Lomaine (talk) 20:25, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
