Old talk
[edit]This page needs a section where it lists references to pop culture, this location is referenced in numerous pop songs by artists like Mase, Kanye, Diddy, and others. (Added 06/24/2009) There is also a lovely Pink Floyd song called "San Tropez". 216.165.16.184 20:27, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Copyright issues
[edit]I came across this page on WP:CP duty; however, I was unable to find any copyright violations, despite really looking. If you can point them out better, please do, or you can just remove them. The article clearly suffers from Peacock issues, and could use a major rewrite anyway. Thanks for the help. The Evil Spartan (talk) 21:57, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Too many pictures !
[edit]Would add more section, but don't cut this article making it nonsense and with many empty pages... (version 28 Feb 2012) Pgmail (talk) 05:45, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
- Please stop overloading this article with poor quality pictures, as it ruins the lay out of this page and violates Wikipedia's policies ! Please, read these manuals of style : WP:IMAGE RELEVANCE ; WP:IDD. Thank you. DITWIN GRIM (talk) 08:11, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
- No there are not "poor quality pictures". If You think that only You can do a good quality article do it Yourself. We will see how good article about Saint-Tropez You can do(good luck). But now You only destroy, without making positively influence, and I think that my work on it had positively response because there are many 5 star opinions there. Your changes completely erase films and photos which show typical Saint-Tropez - people crowds, and "crowded" way of life. I have done most of this Saint-Tropez article in English(check stats for e.g.) and known what I am writing, despite the fact I am not French origin. I will be more than glad to see good even 80 Mp panorama of typical crowded day in Saint-Tropez, and film in Quad HD standard or analog to convert to 8K, and minimal use HD. But You don't do now really nothing to this article, and You even try to judge for Yourself. Now "Your" article look really "dry", and only parts of my text save it. Most of Wikipedia lack real use of photos - if You are writing about for e.g. London bus, You do a photo near -> if You write a short summary about Saint-Tropez You see my(if You have better submit it) typical evening with crowd in St Tropez. If I am for e.g. writing about beach I also attached an image of most famous considered as a "St. Tropez beach", and even done full articles about this wide known beaches. On Wikipedia if You want to show crowded Tokyo street You write about it, and show photo/video with it. I even made short film to show that this is really living "village". If I write about famous places in Saint-Tropez I made also a photo. Near Pl. Banqui photo is attached to show that even in centre are working cranes, probably for museum of "le gendarme" - to show that this is transforming village too. Also attached near the start of article is photo of gendarmerie station because this place is now as famous as nearly red senequier. Your comments and "editional war" really make me annoyed. If You will even do a most part of article, many improvements, translate the French version at least it maybe made some sense. But You did nothing or little. In the resultat I maybe stop working on this article, and the Wikipedia readers would get little or no info, because You will rather not done it. We don’t judge Wikipedia users by the quantity of their contributions but by their quality. So far, your contributions violate every recommendations of Wikipedia:Manual of Style. By the way, you're not indispensable to Wikipedia and you don’t own this article thanks to you contributions, Wikipedia is a collaborative project. We should drastically reduce the number of pictures in this article, as most of them are redundant, unrelated or of poor quality. I prosose: Lede:
- One picture in the Infobox (and no other picture in the lede !)[1]
History:
- One aerial view of Saint Tropez [2]
- One picture of the Citadel [3]
- One picture of the gendarmerie [4]
Port:
Art and Saint-Tropez
- One painting by Paul Signac [7]
Beaches:
- One picture of Saint tropez Beaches [8]
People related to Saint-Tropez
- One picture of Hasekura Tsunenaga [9]
- One picture of Bailly de Suffren [10]
- One picture of Brigitte Bardot [11]
- One picture of Louis de Funès [12]
Gallery:
- One picture of Yachts [13]
- One picture of sailboats [14]
- One picture of the Tour Jarlier [15]
- One picture of Saint-Tropez pie [16]
The localization maps at the end of the article should be deleted as they’re useless (nobody needs to know where St Tropez is on a World map !), unrelated (who cares about the Coat of arms of the French regions ?) or redundant with the Infobox.DITWIN GRIM (talk) 11:43, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
The usage of San Tropez (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) is under discussion, see talk:San Tropez (song) -- 65.94.76.126 (talk) 07:11, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
Red "nice meme" page
[edit]I've been trying to figure out which edit put red all over the article with "nice meme" written across the top, but it seems pretty well hidden to non-programmers like me. Please revert it back. I get the references, but Wikipedia is not a place for faffing around aimlessly, but for finding useful information, just as I was doing when I came across this vandalised page today. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bearsca (talk • contribs) 14:24, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
- Just checked back in to the page, and it's fixed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bearsca (talk • contribs) 01:06, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

it says that the nickname of saint Tropez is saint trop.... right BUT they gave this explanation : trop means too much RIGHT BUT : trop of saint tropez is pronounced tropp and trop of too much is pronounced tro! so the nickname has nothing to do with "too much" ! |

Transport
[edit]The article correctly states that S-T has no railway station, but doesn't expand on this. I know that the main Marseille-Nice line doesn't go through there, but it's very strange that a town the size and importance of S-T was never connected to the rail system, especially during the heyday of French railway expansion in the late 19th century. Can anybody add info about this? --Ef80 (talk) 13:38, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
- Apparently there was a metre gauge light railway which closed in 1949: https://rogerfarnworth.com/2018/01/08/ligne-du-littoral-toulon-to-st-raphael-part-10-la-foux-les-pins-to-saint-tropez-chemin-de-fer-de-provence-45/ --Ef80 (talk) 13:58, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
