Biographical: Born in Johnstown, PA in 1947. Eagle Scout, 1961. USN, '66-'68 (Vietnam Era, Hospital Corpsman). Graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1971. Masters from Brown University, 1973. Taught English, ESL and EFL from grade 7 through college at various points in my career, in the United States, and other countries: West Berlin (at that point it was not officially part of Germany, but still an occupied territory); Istanbul, Turkey, Taiz, then in North Yemen and São Paulo, Brazil. Am now the fifth generation of my family to live in this (very modest) house. I support myself in the more and more fruitless cause of "quality control" in an environment where short-term bottom line is all there is.

Interests: Dogs (husky/collie mix and an Australian Cattle Dog right now); music (classical, classic rock, blues, zydeco....); cooking, gardening, geocaching, photography, history (especially local, wherever I am).
