Yusuf al-Khal was a Lebanese citizen. He was born before either Lebanon or Syria existed as nation states. I'm not actually sure where he was born (I had written "Syrian-born" based on the cited article from The Nation, but I now suspect it is wrong). The only thing on the web other than ours that I can find that makes a specific claim about his birth is [1], which says he was born in Tripoli, Lebanon. 500LL, you keep reverting me on categorizing him as Lebanese: are you saying that he was not a Lebanese citizen, or are you just basing this on my own earlier, quite possibly erroneous statement about where he was born? If you are saying he was not a Lebanese citizen, do you have any evidence that he was a citizen of some other country? -- Jmabel | Talk 05:21, May 17, 2005 (UTC)
