Birth Date
[edit]IMDB says she was born in 1970, TV tome says 1976. Anyone clarify? PedanticallySpeaking 18:41, Sep 8, 2004 (UTC)
Two articles indicate the 1976 DOB is correct, to wit:
- "The Monroe Doctrine" by Kristen Baldwin. Entertainment Weekly. May 21, 1999. Page 58. Says she is twenty-two.
- "My body: Meredith Monroe" by Bailey Ross. Us. April 1999. Page 42. Also says she is twenty-two.
Assuming the December date is correct, that indicates the year is 1976. PedanticallySpeaking 16:54, Oct 7, 2004 (UTC)
- She graduated high school in 1988, so she definitely was not born in 1976. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Johnh123 (talk • contribs) 19:37, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
- Do we have a source for this, or the DOB presently in the article? PedanticallySpeaking 14:32, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
- My high school yearbook is the source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Johnh123 (talk • contribs) 17:47, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
- If Meredith Monroe graduated in 1988 how come she cannot be found in Hinsdale Central High School Yearbook of 1988. She is not even on the swimming club pages even though she known to be a strong swimmer. Can you please state which pages she is on? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.102.139.244 (talk) 15:07, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

The middle name
[edit]At the start of Meredith Monroe career on Dawson Creek and the true story of Laura Welles why was Meredith known as Meredith Hoyt Monroe and later around 2005 became known as as Meredith Leigh Monroe? On IMDB and Sony Dawson Creek sites she was always referred as being born with the middle name Hoyt not Leigh. There have been many conflicting stories about her age but why has her middle name not been consistent ? Jay99a (talk) 18:41, 12 February 2013 (UTC)
So I'm going to document all this here to prevent further edit wars and confusion about these matters. Remember, everyone, please use this talk page and the edit summary to document these issues instead of just making changes and expecting everyone to go along with it when they have no idea why you made those changes because you didn't tell them.
The Gale database lists Monroe's middle name as "Leigh". This is sourced to the print volume Contemporary Theatre, Film and Television Vol. 92, 2009. User:Jay99a has sent me a PDF of Contemporary Theatre, Film and Television Vol. 43, September 2002, which on page 243 lists her middle name as "Hoyt". Absent any corroborating sources I'm inclined to leave it out altogether instead of attempting to divine which one is correct and why. Anyone else have any thoughts on this matter? Gamaliel (talk) 15:57, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
- It would properly be the best option to leave Meredith Monroe middle name out like her age, as you have said there is no way of identifying which is the right one Leigh or Hoyt. There are equal amount of websites that have listed the actress as Meredith Leigh to the ones that have listed her as Meredith Hoyt. Jay99a (talk) 17:59, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
Citing reliable sources
[edit]I'd like to remind editors when adding information about a living person, you should cite the source of that information and that information should be a reliable source. IMDB does not qualify as a reliable source for personal information beyond acting credits. Gamaliel (talk) 22:21, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
Please use edit summaries
[edit]Please use edit summaries, especially when making edits that are controversial or have been contentious. Gamaliel (talk) 21:17, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
