County seat
[edit]Queensbury: Not likely the entire town is the county seat.Stepp-Wulf (talk) 02:40, 13 July 2009 (UTC).
- The source provided says it is. --JBC3 (talk) 16:50, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
- I would seriously quibble with that. Yes, the main county government buildings are located within Queensbury. But, per the county's own contact info, they use the Lake George ZIP code.
When the county was created in 1813, Lake George was purposely chosen as the county seat due to its centrality (Glens Falls wasn't really in existence yet). The Old Warren County Courthouse Complex, which I just created, is within the village of Lake George (not created for another 90 years after the county itself, but then home to the courthouse and county government until 1963). Just about every other source lists Lake George as the county seat regardless of where the county government buildings are. Daniel Case (talk) 14:55, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
