Images
[edit]I added an image of PRR #317, a class D6 locomotive of 1881. This is a good example of a later, high-drivered express 4-4-0, but we should also have some pictures of earlier locomotives to round things out. —Morven 08:00, Nov 9, 2004 (UTC)
- Done. An 1873 Mason locomotive with very classic lines. —Morven 00:31, Nov 10, 2004 (UTC)
- In a book I have, there are a couple of photos (PD-old) of a 1865 Peto, Brassey & Betts/Canada Works, Birkenhead (UK?), and a 1875 Sigl (Austria)- would these be of use in this article, to lessen US-centricity? --Janke | Talk 20:44, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
UK designs
[edit]I added a section about schools class locomotives. the article is plainly lacking any information about UK, or presumably other countries 440 locomotives. I am not at all hung up about the details of how this is arranged, but the article has a big gaping hole in what it does not cover if it claims to be about all 440 engines. - Indeed, and that is one of the tasks in the to do list shown above on this page. Thanks for helping out with it! Slambo (Speak) 11:35, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
- Isn't the Whyte system a US system anyway? It seems very odd not to see the common name for the 4-4-0 i.e. "American"; and similarly for the other types like Moguls, Pacifics, Atlantics, etc. I'm not sure how to resolve this. Tmangray (talk) 18:32, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
