Links
[edit]I have reverted all your external links, as I feel they do not add value to wikipedia. Sites with pictures are easy to find. Burgundavia (✈ take a flight?) 02:51, May 21, 2005 (UTC)
- We have been having a long debate about this on #wikipedia and this is why I reverted them:
- External links on wikipedia are to be limited
- Any external link must provide value that cannot be added to the article
- Any external link must not be easily duplicated elsewhere, ala Google images
Also troubling are the following 2 things:
- You may have created this page for the exclusive purpose of adding to wikipedia. If you did, that is a strict no-no
- It looks like many of your images are copyright violations.
So overall, Wikipedia was not enhanced by the adding of your links. Burgundavia (✈ take a flight?) 03:20, May 21, 2005 (UTC)

[edit]So you've had a bumpy introduction to Wikipedia it seems. I hope you can forgive our hesitance to accept your links: We are frequently the victim of spammers. Our site is very high trafficed, so people feel they have much to gain by being linked from us. So many wikipedians look on new users who contribute a large number of identical links as their only edit with a little more interest than normal. Although we try to assume good faith, we all know that each of us has the right to remove anything we want and we know that if your links are good eventually someone will readd them. Each wikipedia editor has their own standards on what they think goes best in an article and we work by figuring out what we can all agree upon. So working with and being friendly with other wikipedians is an important part in contributing here.
It looks like you know a lot about cars, and I noticed on Burgundavia's talk page that you said you have the copyrights to those images.. So it's obvious you have many things you could contribute to wikipedia beyond external links (for example some of your pictures would probably be great directly inside the articles if you have the rights to add them). Why not try participating in some other way than adding external links first? ... it's far more likely that the link to your site would be left alone if you were an established wikipedia, though ultimately it only stays if it adds value to the article that other external links dont. :)
Good luck! --Gmaxwell 03:39, 21 May 2005 (UTC)
Oh, and I think you're right about Boothy's userpage, but we're allowed to have useless ones. :) --Gmaxwell 03:43, 21 May 2005 (UTC)
