Re: Definition of religion

[edit]

Yeah, I was thinking about that for a week (I just got back from vacation). This comes in when dealing with tribal based religions. How about if I dropped the "organization" and changed it to "group"? Comments please. Jews believe:

In Judaism the belief in afterlife is less a leap of faith than a logical outgrowth of other Jewish beliefs. If one believes in a God who is allpowerful and alljust, one cannot believe that this world, in which evil far too often triumphs, is the only arena in which human life exists. For if this existence is the final word, and God permits evil to win, then it cannot be that God is good. Thus, when someone says he or she believes in God but not in afterlife, it would seem that either they have not thought the issue through, or they don't believe in God, or the divine being in whom they believe is amoral or immoral.

Your Source

This seems to be a view of the afterlife to me. Maybe we could take out "official" too. To be: A religion is an group or organization that has a concern, thought or opinion on what happens after death. (to the non-material body)

Oakland maps

[edit]

I'm working on the income maps - coming up soon. -- Stevey7788 00:31, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I've added a bunch more images to the page. I've also created a shortcut (Oakland maps) and plan to create more maps for San Francisco, San Jose, California, and Los Angeles, or maybe even New York City.

If you would like to learn how to use Factfinder ([1]) , here's how (it takes a while to learn it):

Go to the website and click on the "data sets" tab on the left side. Once the page loads, you should see "Summary File 1," "SF 2" "SF 3," and so forth. Use SF 1 for race, renter/owner occupation, and age/sex. SF 3 is for all sorts of economic, social, and housing characteristics.

Now Click on "SF 1" or "SF 3." You can select "quick tables," detailed tables," or "thematic maps." Once you've selected something, select "place" , "county" , "state," etc. Then select a theme.

Summary: Main -- All Data Sets -- Data Sets with Thematic Maps -- Geography -- Themes -- Results

There are a lot more features I haven't mentioned. Feel free to experiment with the Factfinder tools.

Thanks.

More maps, more data!

[edit]

More maps here (collection of articles) in my user subpage:

  • This is not suggesting a hierarcal system.
  • It will be used only by users who want to use it.
  • Only ranking will be assigend to users who want to use it.
  • The idea ment to make it like barn stars, but based on regular contribution.
  • It is currently a prototype, likely that it is nothing like the final version.

I urge you to reconsider your vote based on this clarification. Thanks Cat chi? 08:41, 13 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Game Neverending

[edit]

After reading Game Neverending I still have no idea what that game was about. Maybe something like Nomic with several thousand players? Since you posted in the talk page there I guess you could expand the article a bit. --R.H. 23:26, 10 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Intresting Ayyavazhi Family

[edit]

Hai Aezram, there are intresting articles about Ayyavazhi, a new religion on both mythology and religiosity. Wikipedia is rich with this topic in English, but poor in other languages. Since french is a leading language in Wikipedia it is better to translate the contents on this AYYAVAZHI family to french. - Paul Raj
