Accuracy and notability
[edit]Accuracy of this article should be checked. this site shows he is a Professor at Emory University. --Woggly 17:36, 2 Jan 2005 (UTC)
I'm of the opinion that this article might need to be deleted. It is an orphan, & the material here fails to tell me why he is notable -- beyond the fact he produced a few videos & delivers commentary on NPR. -- llywrch 18:49, 7 Jan 2005 (UTC)
The information is just outdated, it's not wrong... and he seems to be a quite prominent psychologist [1], but I agree this page is not really an encyclopaedia entry.
Drew Westen is one of the most prolific and empirically grounded clinical and personality psychologists alive on the planet. He deserves an entry no less than, say, Rubeus Hagrid from the Harry Potter movie. ---
In my opinion, a good encyclopedia (viz. Wikipedia) should strive for cultural neutrality. Hence, we should not assume that the reader of English Wikipedia knows more about USA than any other English speaking country. Perhaps therefore, we ought to begin by mentioning that Westen is an American psychologist; even better, mentioned where we was born and grew up. And further, provide the reader with an equal amount of information concerning the universities he has attended, and not specifically mentioning that Sussex is in England. Llywrch, you wanted to know if Dr. Westen is notable. Being cited by Shermer in SciAm is pretty notable. I went on the web this morning specifically to learn about him. I'm glad there was an entry about him for me to read. Sincerely,--24.136.197.212 15:24, 6 July 2006 (UTC)Paul Flocken
