Table
[edit]That table is terrible for people will small resolutions. I am using my schools one now and the dates dont align with the players etc. - fonzy
There are no wiki markups for table tags, so thats a problem. I was using line-breaks between rows rather than using a new for each. I'll make the changes and try to format the HTML for easy future editing. Jay 14:33, Sep 8, 2003 (UTC)
gender terms
[edit]Cantus recently moved the Ladies' list to Women's, etc., but Wimbledon uses the somewhat archaic terms "Gentlemen's" and "Ladies'". I think that Wimbledon usage should be followed in these lists and propose that they be moved accordingly. Comments? Joe Kress 04:03, Aug 27, 2004 (UTC)
- I was aiming for consistency among the rest of the grand slam tournaments. I believe Roland Garros also uses the same "archaic" terms. --Cantus 00:09, Aug 28, 2004 (UTC)
Duplicate Article
[edit]Why is this a duplicate article? Where is the other one? Can we clear this up and get rid of the duplicate tag please? SmokeyTheCat •TALK• 14:03, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- yes, why is this article here as it is covered by other pages in more detail? I suggest speedy removal. Fyunck(click) (talk) 08:11, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
Pat Cash
[edit]Pat Cash's junior win in doubles is listed without a dagger - perhaps it should have some different annotation as although he did not win doubles he did win the singles title Arachrah (talk) 15:50, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
Flag icons
[edit]WP:MOSFLAG and WP:SPORTFLAG say that flags should only be used next to spokespersons representing their country. This would be appropriate for Davis Cup but not Wimbledon. They imply undue weight to the nationality of the player which is irrelevant to this tournament. I propose removal. Btljs (talk) 10:44, 10 August 2015 (UTC)
- I think players like Andy and Jamie Murray would disagree with you. Tvx1 13:26, 10 August 2015 (UTC)
- It's been discussed extensively at MOS:FLAGS. It resulted in an easy consensus to allow flags next to sports-persons where national flags are commonly used as representations of sporting nationality in the particular sport. Whether it's tennis, formula 1 racing or whatever. Per the overwhelming consensus, flags get used next to tennis players in tables and infoboxes every time this comes under discussion. AFD
[edit]Seeing as we already have a featured list on Wimbledon champions shouldn't this one be redirected or taken to AFD? Seems like duplicate information to me. NapHit (talk) 21:34, 5 September 2015 (UTC)
- Which list? Do you mean List of Wimbledon gentlemen's singles champions which is only for men's singles? PrimeHunter (talk) 22:18, 5 September 2015 (UTC)
- Yes it's only for men's singles, but every category e.g. women's, boy's, girls' has a separate list, so there really is no need for this page. NapHit (talk) 14:10, 6 September 2015 (UTC)
- Which list for boys and girls? If you mean {{Wimbledon boys' singles champions}} and {{Wimbledon girls' singles champions}} then navigation templates are not considered lists. Anyway, lots of information is presented in two or more ways. All champions can also be found in articles about individual editions. Having them together in one list seems fine to me. - Oh, silly me, didn't realise there wasn't an actual list. NapHit (talk) 17:55, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
