"the second best selling game in the Halo franchise"

[edit]

In the article, it states that Halo 3 is the "second best selling game in the Halo franchise," but no credible source (at least none that are up-to-date) reaffirms this claim. According to the article, List of best-selling video games, Halo 3 has sold 14+ million units and is far ahead in sales than any Halo game before and after it. Can anyone change this line? Thank you. 2602:306:C5B4:4B79:4578:671B:6864:6A35 (talk) 20:07, 12 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • You're right. I looked through the article history and someone changed it from best selling to second best selling without any explanation or source. Though I would expect Halo 3 is still the best selling game in the series, I've removed the statement since we don't have any recent and reliably sourced concrete sales figures to support the claim. --The1337gamer (talk) 20:41, 12 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Backwards compatibility

[edit]

It's been announced by 343 that this game, along with three others, will be made backwards compatible on the Xbox One. https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/news/halo-summer-celebration (anonymous user) 21:28, 7 July 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2606:6000:C083:8400:F0C4:D7B0:30BE:26B4 (talk)

Lead

[edit]

Currently the lead has range of refs which violates MOS:CITELEAD. Does anyone have any objections before I remove them?  Spy-cicle💥  Talk? 16:51, 12 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You need to make sure those are cited in the body. If you're just pulling stuff for compliance without double-checking, I'd ask that you refrain. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs talk 18:25, 12 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I was planning on transferring the refs to the main body (assuming they were stated there). Although, you have already done it so thank you.  Spy-cicle💥  Talk? 17:55, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Easter Eggs

[edit]

The game contains a plethora of Easter Eggs (hidden clues and left in the final product by the game developers).

Easter eggs generally are not considered notable and worth including unless there's reliable sources discussing them in detail. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs talk 16:30, 19 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

 Comment: There's a few recent articles available via a quick Google search; here's one example. — Manticore 23:35, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reopening. Please add to the "modes" section or any other place deemed appropriate: On January 13, 2022, the Halo 3 multiplayer matchmaking servers on the Xbox 360 platform were shutdown permanently by 343 Industries. As of 13 January 2022, Halo multiplayer continues to be available through The Master Chief Collection.[1] 84.250.14.116 (talk) 11:03, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

“Marketing included… alternate reality game.”

[edit]

It is my understanding that the alternate reality game "I Love Bees" was a product of the marketing for "Halo 2", not this game. Avatartuna (talk) 17:33, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you follow the content in the Release section and related article you'll find more information. "I Love Bees" was the ARG for Halo 2, but Halo 3 had its own one as well. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs talk 19:18, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
