Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary semi-protection: Disruptive removal of band member from Personnel section. Also requesting page protection for the following articles for the same reason: Act I: Live in Rosario, Colours in the Dark (album) and The Shadow Self. HorrorLover555 (talk) 15:04, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Page protection appears to have expired, and IP editors are once again seeking to remove a redirect established a few months ago by AfD consensus per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Zee Marathi Utsav Natyancha Awards 2023. Please re-apply protection, thanks! Dclemens1971 (talk) 15:21, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Due to conflicting views in the community, many people vandalise this article to suit their own individual conveniences rather than the beliefs held within the majority of the Sikh community (for example, depicted mona sikhs rather than sahajdhari ones) 2A00:23C8:4B00:D301:A9DC:4B8F:F3DF:8CB7 (talk) 15:50, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: An event that has already passed, and mostly final infomation. Wikihelper910 (talk) 17:59, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Wikihelper910: This was protected under the auspices of a contentious topic designation (post-1992 politics of the United States) and cannot be unilaterally unprotected. Appeal at WP:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement or at WP:Arbitration/Requests/Clarification and Amendment. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 01:13, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: It`s been edited by someone who shouldnt have the authority to edit what was effectively an acurate page. Your "editor" has already been cited many times as being extremely biased against certain protected categories and allows his fetishes to dictate what and how he edits! 124.244.164.104 (talk) 08:02, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Any further requests for this from another user who is here because of the GBNews piece and does not provide a defensible "change X to Y" style of request will be reverted off as disruptive.
@Muboshgu: The talk page is currently semi-protected due to a glut of drive-by users coming in thanks to a GBNews piece about the topic. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 15:28, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    Gotcha. WP:DR is over <-- there. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:46, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

I want to request to change the article name because clearly Israel didn't invade the whole Lebanon and it's not it intention. They said that their operation is to drive Hezbollah from south Lebanon So i want to make request to change it into 2024 israeli invasion of south lebanon أحمد توفيق (talk) 12:56, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done This would be a controversial move, and non-extended-confirmed editors are not permitted to participate in requested move discussions. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 15:53, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not to mention that south Lebanon isn't an independent state; it'd still be an invasion of Lebanon overall.  Requesting immediate archiving...Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 16:06, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to request that in the Casualties and losses section, "1,000+ Lebanese civilians killed[36]" will be removed or rephrased. That is because the article itself doesn't mention if they were civilians or fighters, while Hezbollah hasn't published official death numbers since the beeper attack. Thus we can't know how many civilians were killed - and the Al Jazeera article doesn't say it either — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.55.173.215 (talkcontribs) 16:40, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
