Talk:Soft money
Supposedly soft money was already illegal for nearly a century. We're always hearing about corporations and other wealthy sources giving huge campaign contributions.
I guess the "loophole" is that this money supposedly is not used "in connection with" any specific federal election -- an evasion which is laughably obvious. If you give a party a million dollars, they're gonna spend it in a way that gets their candidates elected, no matter what. For example, there's no such thing as a non-partisan voter registration drive or get-out-the-vote campaign: party workers do these things for partisan advantage only, I reckon. --Uncle Ed 13:59, 29 Aug 2003 (UTC)
