Gray's with apostrophe?
[edit]Surely it's Gray's Peak? Deb 12:03, 9 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- When the USGS began officially recorded names, it made it a policy to remove all apostrophes. Thus, while it was originally Gray's Peak, it is now officially Grays Peak, both in federal documents and as recognized by the State of Colorado. Same with Pikes Peak, Longs Peak, Torreys Peak, etc. --patton1138 14:38, 9 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Well, there you go. That's one way of getting round the old apostrophe problem. Thanks for the clarification. Deb 17:16, 9 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Yes, I've encountered this with peaks in Alaska such as Devils Thumb. -- Spireguy 03:43, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
Picture problem
[edit]Since this is the article about Grays Peak, not Torreys Peak, I moved the picture out of the infobox and changed the Infobox heading back to Grays. However I don't know myself if this is really Torreys or Grays, so I'm not endorsing either way. Comments would be welcome to nail it down. -- Spireguy 03:43, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
